On 17 April, we begin the Easter ‘Triduum’ – an extended three-day celebration, in which we accompany Jesus through his final hours to his death and the tomb. Over these three solemn days we relive the Paschal Mystery, the events which have changed our lives for good through the saving death and resurrection of the Lord. If you share this time with the Lord who loves you so much, you will be rewarded greatly.
- On Holy Thursday evening, the 8pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper celebrates how Jesus instituted the Mass and the Priesthood during his final meal on earth.
- On Good Friday, we accompany Christ to his Cross and contemplate his great love, poured out for us as he died.
- At 10am there is a simple Stations of the Cross, especially for children.
- At 3pm we celebrate the Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion.
- On Holy Saturday, during the day we commemorate the Lord’s time in the tomb and mourn with Mary and the disciples.
- The Easter celebration of Christ’s Resurrection begins with the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night on Saturday 19 April at 9pm. This is the Easter Service. As night begins to fall, in the light of the risen Christ (symbolised by our Paschal Candle) we listen to how God prepared his people for the wonders flowing from Christ’s Resurrection. We can also give thanks for our own our baptism, when we began to receive Christ’s gift of his eternal life. For that reason we profess again the faith of our baptism.
- On Easter Day 20 April there are two Masses in the morning, at the usual times (9am and 11am).
There is NO EVENING MASS on Easter Sunday
