Lent

  • Afternoon of Adoration – Sunday 17 March from 4 – 5.30pm: come and pray quietly for your intentions before the Blessed Sacrament. If you couldn’t come last time, come along this time.
  • Saturday 23 March, 4pm – 5pm: Adoration with Stations of the Cross, meditating on Jesus’ passion today.  Followed by refreshments.
  • Journeying to Holiness in Lent: What sort of people does Jesus Christ want us to become when he calls us to follow him?

Through the grace of being baptised, the Holy Spirit has begun to make us become more like Jesus Christ himself. God looks at us lovingly, now seeing in us the image of his Beloved Son. The shorthand answer to the question above is: you and I are called to become holy, to set out on a journey to holiness. This is the official teaching of the Church, for it is what Jesus our Lord wants for us – you will find it there in the Catholic Catechism: ‘All are called to holiness: “Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5,48)’ (Catechism n. 2013).

Wouldn’t it be good to talk and pray about what this might mean for us here?

So, we want to offer you these evening discussions which may help us focus on God’s invitation to become holyNEXT SESSION Thursday 22 March at 7pm, the third of our Fortnightly Reflections and discussions about how people like us become holy. It will be about Saint Therese of Lisieux and will be held in the Hall. Do come and take part. Not just adults but teenagers too.
